Hemo bioscience is pleased to offer a collection of products to address the needs of blood banks of all sizes and scope. From our new Phosphate Buffered Saline Concentrate to the Red Cell Support Solution, we can address the basic needs of smaller blood banks as well as the complex requirements of an immunohematology reference laboratory.

HBS-LISS

Introduction
A substantial reduction in the incubation time for antigen/antibody mixtures can be achieved when the red cells
and serum are suspended in a low ionic strength saline (LISS) medium. Most antibodies will show an increase
in test sensitivity when LISS is incorporated into the test medium. HBS-LISS is provided ready to use and
contains sodium azide as a preservative.

Method of Use
Add two drops of serum or plasma to be tested to a labeled test tube.
Add one drop of red cell suspension. Red cells should be washed three times in Normal Ionic Strength Saline
(NISS) or Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) making a final suspension of 2-4% in the NISS or PBS.
Add two drops of HBS-LISS and mix thoroughly.
Incubate for 15 minutes at 37°C.
Perform AHG test as per manufacturer’s instructions.

Important Note
Volumes of red cells, serum or plasma and HBS-LISS must be added as instructed above.

Storage
HBS-LISS should be stored at room temperature when in use. Store at 2-8°C when not in use.

HBS-BSA

Bovine Serum Albumin, 22%
Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is used in a variety of blood group serology applications: as a potentiator in crossmatch and antibody detection, as a diluent in antibody titration procedures and for stabilizing blood grouping reagents and eluates. HBS-BSA is produced from USDA inspected, United States source material and is packaged as 10 x 10mL.
